Know the difference

Polishing hides less than correction removes.

Swirl marks are fine scratches caused by poor washing. Holograms are machine trails left by rushed polishing. A deeper scratch may cut through the clear coat and needs an honest assessment.

We measure paint thickness before work begins. Then we use a test spot to find the safest pad and compound combination. Only a microscopic layer is removed.

Single-stage work improves gloss and light defects. Multi-stage correction targets heavier defects panel by panel.

LED lighting and a paint depth gauge reveal defects and safe working limits.

Test the combination

A small test spot sets the right pad, polish and number of passes.

Correct the panels

Machine polishing removes swirls, haze and holograms in controlled stages.

Panel wipe removes polishing oils, followed by a final light check.

The black Porsche had years of circular marks. The corrected bonnet now reflects the lights cleanly, and the colour looks deeper in daylight.

We booked an end-of-lease enhancement after the inspection showed light wash damage across the doors. The work was explained clearly, the timing was agreed in advance, and the Audi looked presentable when it went back to the leasing company.

Why did I choose Garside's Detailing Works? Because the team measured the paint on my classic Jaguar, showed me the test spot and stopped short of promising miracles. The finish is clearer and the original paint has been treated with care.

Paint correction FAQs

Good work starts with realistic expectations.

Will paint correction remove deep scratches?

Some scratches sit within the clear coat and can be reduced or removed. If a mark catches a fingernail or reaches the colour layer, we explain the safe limit and discuss touch-in or bodyshop work.

How long does paint correction take?

A one-stage enhancement commonly takes a full working day. Two-stage and multi-stage correction can take longer, depending on vehicle size, paint hardness and the number of panels affected.

Is it safe for my car's paint?

Yes, when the process is measured. We record paint depth, use a controlled test spot and tailor the machine speed, pad and compound to the clear coat.

Can you fix holograms from previous polishing?

Usually. Hologram correction uses a refining stage that removes machine trails and restores a cleaner reflection, especially on black and other dark colours.
